Our Fabric

A Story Woven in Time

At the heart of Bleu Farm is a love for vintage fabrics, particularly Jiangnan Homespun (江南古布) or Tu Bu (土布) — a heritage textile that carries generations of craftsmanship.

This handwoven cotton fabric, made in rural China, was traditionally woven on wooden looms by village women, often for their families' daily use. The threads were naturally dyed, giving the fabric its signature blue tones and rustic charm. The beauty of homespun fabric lies in its texture—the visible slubs, the irregular weaves, the subtle variations that make each piece truly unique. These imperfections are not flaws, but rather marks of authenticity, a testament to the human hands that created them.

Though these textiles were once common, they have become increasingly rare. I cherish each piece I source, carefully selecting fabrics that still hold their strength and beauty despite their age. By transforming them into thoughtful, handcrafted items, I hope to give them a new life — one that continues to be part of everyday moments, just as they once were.

Bringing this fabric into my work is my way of preserving a fading tradition and sharing its quiet elegance with a new generation. I hope that when you hold a Bleu Farm piece in your hands, you can feel the history woven into it.

Thank you for being part of this journey.
